Gabe DeSantis Named Lion of the Year

The Apalachin Lions Club has named Gabe DeSantis their Lion of the Year for 2003-2004. The award was presented to DeSantis at the Lions Installation Dinner held June 25 at the Owego Treadway Inn. Lion DeSantis, who joined the club in 1988, was recognized for his outstanding effort in collecting, sorting, and delivering between three and four tons of food for the club's annual Christmas basket program, and for his efforts as chairman of a successful pancake breakfast.

 Two other Apalachin Lions Club members also received honors. Lion Dave Rupright received the District 20-E2 Past District Governors Memorial Award. Lion John Sobotka was made a Melvin Jones International Fellow.
