Kids' Corner
By Makenzi Waterman, Age 10

Hello everyone! I thought this month I would make my format a little different. What is summer all about? Hanging with your best pals of course! So, this is about how to make new friends, and fun gift-giving ideas for your bud.

Tips on how to Make Friends
• Hang out with different people (but don't leave your other friends behind!)
• Invite people to spend the night at your house.
• Get their phone number and e-mail address. (and have a nice chat)
• Don't just try to make one friend, try to make many!
• Be yourself, don't be someone else. People should like you for who you are!

How to be a Great Friend
• Always support your friend when he/she makes new buds.
• Never gossip about anyone, even if your best friend doesn't like that person.
• Always keep promises and secrets.
• Even if you are in a bad mood, try to have fun. People won't want to hang around with you if you are grouchy all the time.
• If your friend accomplishes something great, always congratulate your friend, even if you are a little jealous.

Cool Craft: Friendship Present
Here is a cool craft to do for your new friend. First, get a box or a bag, and put neat stuff inside. You can put your school picture, and a friendship bracelet. Also, if there is a book that your friend wants, you can buy them that book. But, check with your parents to see if it is okay. Maybe you could read the book first and you and your friend can discuss it. If you want to, put an invitation in the bag and invite your friend to sleep over at your house. Also, include a new toothbrush for them to bring. I am sure your friend will love it!

Questions (Together, decide who fits with the question the most. Enjoy!)
 1. At a party, who is more of the party animal, you or your bud?
 2. Who jokes the most, you or your bud?
     3. Who is the shyest, you or your bud?

Ok, stay tuned next month for a different topic. I hope you can make new friends
and keep old friends!  Also, I hope your 4th of July went well. Bye-Bye!
