Boy Trapped In Washing Machine

Canton, Pa.  - On Friday July 2 at about 10:30 a.m. the Canton Fire Department was called to Landon's Laundromat to free a child who was trapped in a washing machine that was filling up with water!

Gage Hunt, 5, of Canton was playing with his older brother and sister at the laundromat. They were there with their parents and grandmother.

According to Canton Police Chief Doug Seeley, six to eight kids were playing in the laundromat and had been told to stay out of the washing machines. Somehow  Gage got inside the washer, somebody closed the door on the large front loading machine, put money in, and turned it on.

An unidentified man ran for help (he was treated for chest pains). Fire fighters arrived minutes later and used a 2x4 to brake the window in the door of the washer, since is was running with the boy and water in it and could not be opened.

At some time during the situation, Gage's mother fainted. Gage received cuts to his left leg and foot and bruising and swelling to his head. He was air-lifted to Geisinger Medical Center. Two firefighters, Ron Seeley and J. Scott May,  were also sent to Troy Community Hospital with deep lacerations from the door's glass. Four area ambulances were on the scene.
