Catfish Derby on June 5 

The 9th Annual All Night Catch and Release Catfish Derby will be held Saturday and Sunday, June 5 and 6 in Owego. The event is sponsored by the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 480 in Owego.

 Check-in starts at 7:00 am on Saturday, June 5, at derby headquarters at Hickories Park in Owego (Route 17-Exit 65). Campsites and boat launch will be available at the park.

 The final weigh-in will take place at 12:00 Noon on Sunday, June 6, at the Hickories Park. 

 Prizes will be awarded on Sunday, June 6. First prize is a boat, motor, and trailer package. Second prize is a canoe with extras. There are cash prizes for 3rd through 12th places. There will be separate prizes for the youth division.

 On Sunday, June 6, there will be a kids castoff, face painting, and the Owego Police Department will host a bicycle safety class for the children.

 Registration is $20 per person, children 12 and under are asked to bring one canned good item to benefit the Open Door Mission to the Derby Headquarters.
