Apalachin Lions Corner
It is hard to believe I am closing in on the end of my presidency. It is also hard to believe how much more there is to do over the next two months. I want to say ‘Thank You' to all my fellow Lions who have made my job easier, and to you - the local community - for all you do for the Apalachin Lions. Your financial and moral support help make our efforts in the community successful. We had a successful Pancake Breakfast, Easter Egg Hunt, Highway Cleanup, and Vision Eye Screening for children. We have another eye screening set for May 20 at Tioga Hills School at 6:00 pm. At the last screening, we diagnosed six children who needed further review. We have a couple events left in this Lions year. Our Annual Broom Sale is May 3, 4 and 5. We look forward to your continued generosity and support. We recently conducted a Community Assessment Survey to help us better understand what the community needs are, if they are changing and are we meeting those needs as a club. I appointed a committee to undertake this project and I want to thank them for a job well done. The Chairman of the committee, Lion Mike Baratta, asked me to share a few words. "I want to thank all the respondents to the survey. The information proved to be invaluable. It gave us positive direction to improve our services and expand our capabilities." Once again thank you to all of you. The Community Press a free newspaper, published monthly serving the Tioga County, New York, area Copyright 2004 Brown Enterprise and Marketing |
