Classroom Connections On Monday, March 15, Owego Free Academy students from Miss Coleman's English class traveled to Apalachin Elementary School for their first of a series of visits in Mrs. LaCombe's Kindergarten classroom. The purposes of the visits are to help the Kindergartner's learn about different habitats including the rain forest, the desert, and the ocean and for the 10th Graders to improve upon their reading skills in a fun and unique way. The 10th Grade students practiced and read aloud books that related to these topics. There was much excitement in the room as the 10th Graders made their stories come alive. Not only did Mrs. LaCombe's students expand their knowledge on the different habitats, but also Miss Coleman's students shined as positive role models. Overall, it was a fun and rewarding visit for all involved and both classes can't wait for their next visit.
