Dyson is Employee of the Quarter

Robert Dyson The Tioga County Employee Recognition Committee is pleased to congratulate Robert (Bob) Dyson on being selected "2004 Employee of the First Quarter."

Bob Dyson started his employment with Tioga County January 10, 1994, as a Maintenance Mechanic. In 1997 he was promoted to Technical Facility Supervisor for the Public Safety Building. The Sheriff's Office depends on Bob anytime of the day or night. He is on call 24-hours a day, seven days a week. He is called at home in the middle of the night and is here in a matter of minutes. His work involves oversight of the Public Safety Building to ensure proper maintenance and operation of all facility systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC and refrigeration, security, etc.). Bob went to night school at BOCES to receive his training for this very technical job. During power blackouts he is here to insure that the generator system kicks in and then he stays to make sure it continues to function properly. When the power is restored, he is here to see that the switchover occurs without any breaches of security or major equipment malfunctioning.

Bob is from Seneca Falls originally, which explains why he loves being at the lakes. He loves the outdoors and gardening as is evidenced in the landscaping he has done at the Public Safety Building. He and his wife also organized a Picnic for the Sheriff's Department Staff that shows his dedication and caring for the people he works with.

Bob is the type of employee any employer would want to have. He is dependable, reliable, knowledgeable and able to multi-task without becoming frustrated.

Bob lives in the town of Barton with his wife Jan and three boys: Nick, 18, Abe, 15, and Jake, 7. Nick attends Hobart College, and Abe attends Tioga Center School and is very active in sports. Bob and his family are very busy following the Tioga Center School sporting events and supporting his son's team. Bob attends the "Church on the Hill" in Milan and enjoys singing in the choir. He also loves remodeling houses and doing carpentry work.
