NY Senators
Clinton and Schumer Visit Lockheed Martin in Owego, Show Support for US101
Senator
Hillary Clinton visited Lockheed Martin in Owego on January 30 to see the
progress and success that stemmed from last October's Small Business Suppliers
Conference and to show her support for Lockheed Martin's US101 Helicopter
- the American variant of the British EH101helicopter. Lockheed is competing
to build the next helicopter fleet for the President.
"I wanted to come and see for myself what
the helicopter looks like . . . and more clearly support what you're doing
here," Clinton said. "The project means so much for New York."
After taking a short test flight in the
EH101 helicopter, Clinton (pictured above in flight over Apalachin) praised
the aircraft. "The Royal Air Force crew gave me a terrific test flight,
really smooth lift-off, terrific landing, stability, I felt great up there
and I'm not an easy helicopter flier, so I think that I can say with some
assurance based on my previous experience that this is a tremendous opportunity."
On January 16, Senator Charles Schumer (right)
also visited Lockheed Martin to show his support of the US101.
