School Scum is Right!
Hello, everyone! First off, I just wanted to say thank you to all the people who e-mailed me asking why I haven't written a column in close to three months. To read all of those e-mails people sent saying how much they loved what I wrote it made it all worth it to say what I have been saying without holding anything back. The reason I did not write in a column for a while is because I was faced with a very serious surgery, needless to say anyone who has had a major surgery knows that it is physically and mentally draining. I will not go into what I had surgery on because that is not the point of this column, that will come next month after I have had more time to reflect on the situation. The point of this column is the new national high school Web site craze schoolscum.com. If you have never been to this site, I would say that you are a lucky person. The reason I say this is because this site is full of filth that is almost makes me ill just reading the content of this site. You see, schoolscum.com is a Web site that gives almost every high school in American there own message forum to talk about the latest happenings within their high school. At first, I thought this site was a great idea that is until I actually viewed the site and saw that you did not have to sign your name in order to post messages. Your probably asking yourself why does that matter if people have to sign their names or not? The reason why it matters is because now people can say whatever they want about someone else, and they can do it without signing their names. This gives people a free forum to trash whoever they want, whenever they want. At first you would think that people would have enough common sense to not talk trash about people, and use this site for intelligent purposes, but as soon as you log on to this site you see exactly what this world has come to. I will say that there are some very good posts on the site, but 95% of the content on this site is very offensive, and it needs to stop! The point I am trying to make here is someone can talk trash about someone without having to worry about the consequences of doing so, to me that is very wrong. If you have the guts to talk trash about someone, you should have the guts to deal with the consequences that come with running your mouth. In closing, before you talk trash on a Web site please remember that you may be hurting someone on a personal level, to you it may be just fun and games, but to the person your talking about it could be the straw that breaks the camel's back, so to speak. I know for sure you do not want it on your conscience that something you said as an offbeat joke turned out to be the final nail in someone's coffin. Just remember that before you post, and as a side thought I believe whoever named this site schoolscum.com did a great job because this site is truly nothing more than pure SCUM. As always thank you for reading. If you have any questions or comments because contact me at keithzimmer@yahoo.com.
