River Paddle a Great Success

For those of you able to attend, you know that last month's First Annual River Paddle was a complete and amazing success. There were 120 participants (the organizers had originally anticipated 40-60!). Even so, things went quite smoothly, except the 43-passenger bus was out of commission, so three trips were made with a 22-passenger bus, instead of one bus trip. The weather, though threatening rain, was fine. The speakers were both very good and everyone had a good time. Jim Campolis took orders for BBQ chicken which he delivered to Pavilion # 3.

Thanks go to ACE for registration help and coordination, to the Tioga County EMC for coffee and donuts, to Rich Briere of the Ahwaga Canoe Club for help with on water coordination, to the Owego Fire Dept Water Rescue Unit for providing safety back up, T-Tran Bus service , and especially to Water & Wilderness for providing registration on their Web site and overall enthusiastic support.

The date for the Second Annual Tioga County River Paddle will probably be September 18, 2004.
