Soldier's Homecoming a Surprise
In a miraculous chain of events and unbeknownst to Faith or anyone else, Greg made it home on the day of the baby's birth, September 3. He missed the birth by half a day, but the best part is that he doesn't have to return to finish the second half of his overseas commitment. His job changed to that of Rear Detachment Commander of his battalion at Fort Drum. He was promoted to captain on October 1. The baby's name is Andrew Gregory and he weighed 8 lbs. 10.5 oz. and was 20 inches long. Andrew was born at Faith's parents' home in Greene, N.Y. (Yes, it was planned and all went well). The family resides in Watertown, N.Y. Andrew is the first grandchild of Pete (Gene) and Jill Darling of Warren Center and of Gary and Jo Roselle of Greene, N.Y. He is also the first great grandchild on both sides of the family, with the exception of the Darling family. He is the fourteenth great grandchild of Norman and Betty Darling. Pete Darling is the pastor of Faith Christian Fellowship Church, Apalachin.
