Annie's Corner
Those strange occurrences that happen in our every day lives that cannot be explained are often called coincidences for lack of a better explanation. Like the time my grandmother was in an airport in Germany and runs into another American woman who could be her twin. Now they say we all have a twin somewhere, but to both be in the same foreign country at the same time. Eerie! I was in an airport in Virginia one time, waiting for a flight when I saw a man who could be a twin for my favorite uncle. To make it even weirder the gentleman kept looking at me then came over and introduced himself. We sat and chatted for a while since I reminded him of his favorite niece. Strange! I graduated from a school in Pennsylvania, and in my sophomore year my Biology teacher had a drinking problem and got fired from the school after only one year. I ran into that same man again about 10 years later, when he walked in to my place of employment when I lived in Rhode Island. Ever pick up the phone to dial and find someone on the line, and it is the person you were going to call? How about with the convenience of e-mail, and one time I received two messages about the same time and the two friends were asking about each other. Thinking about the other at the same time. Scary! Have you ever tried to drop in on a friend's home and find no one is home, only to learn later that they had been at your home, dropping in to see you? Shopping for weeks for the perfect dress to wear to that family wedding only to have your sister-in-law show up in the very same dress. Even if you do look better in the dress, it does not make you any less uncomfortable. A friend of mine, newly divorced, ran into an old high school sweetheart who just happened to be visiting the old home town at the same time she was. Both haven't been home in years, and well let's just say nature takes its course. What a surprise! Some coincidences aren't so good, like my grandparents dying within a month of each other. The way these things happen, and in some strange way connecting two people or more in a "twilight zone" moment. Aren't they amazing? Keeps life more interesting to be sure!
