First Annual Tioga County River Paddle 

The First Annual Tioga County River Paddle will take place on Saturday, September 13, from 7:30 am until 12 Noon, from Apalachin to Owego.
 At 7:30 am, boats will be spotted at the Apalachin Bridge Boat Launch (Exit 66), cars moved to the Hickories Park in Owego, and a shuttle vehicle will bring paddlers back to their boats.

 From 8:00 am to 8:30 am, at the boat ramp area, there will be coffee and donuts, brief words from local officials, and launching at 8:30. Bring your kayak or canoe, 
or rentals available at reduced rates. 

 At 10:30 am, the paddlers will arrive at Hickories Park in Owego.  There will be an environmental education presentation at 10:30 in Pavilion #3. Scott Foti, Alternate NYS Commissioner to the Susquehanna River Basin Commission (SRBC) will present on river ecology and SRBC's role in the Susquehanna River. Dave Lemon, a NYS DEC fisheries biologist, will speak on the Shad Reintroduction Program and launch site development. 

 The pavilion will be open for a picnic, so bring a picnic lunch if you'd like to stay for that. 

 The Tioga County River Paddle  is sponsored by Apalachin Community Efforts (ACE), Carantouan Greenway, Owego Revitalization and Betterment Corporation (ORBC), Tioga County Environmental Management Council, and Water and Wilderness of Sweeney's Plaza in Apalachin.
