Owego Motor Squad in 9/11 Ride
The Special Details Motor Squad
of the Owego Police Department last month went to Somerset, Pa., and helped
escort about 1,029 civilian motorcycle s to Shanksville, Pa., crash site
of one of the planes that was hijacked on September 11, 2001. The next
day they assisted in escorting the bikes from Shanksville to the Pentagon
in Washington, D.C., where another of the 9/11/01 hijacked planes crashed.
After spending the night there, they helped escort the bikes to New York
City and the Twin Towers Memorial site where two hijacked planes crashed
on 9/11/01. There were ceremonies at each site. The motor squad also escorted
a group of Harley Owner Riders from New York City to Buffalo for the beginning
of the Harley Davidson 100 year party.
