Home Textile Tool Museum

 The Home Textile Tool Museum in Orwell, Pa., is dedicated to the understanding of textile production as it was in the American home in earlier times. All aspects of home textile production are shown and/or demonstrated, including flax and wool spinning, plain and overshot weaving, flax growing and preparation, keeping sheep, and natural dyeing.

 The museum is open on Saturdays, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm:

 July 12 - Basket Day and Blacksmithing - basket making demonstrations. Visitors are invited to weave a sample. Blacksmithing demonstrations.

 July 19 - Indigo Dyeing Day -Visitors are invited to bring a 1oz. skein of hand spun yarn to put into the Indigo dye pot.

 July 26 - Felting -Demonstrations by Denise Nunn of Newark Valley

 August 2 - Spinner's Frolic and Potluck Picnic - All spinners are invited to come and spin, bring a dish to pass for 1:00 pm picnic. Large groups are asked to please call ahead.

 August 9 - Shuttles & Spindles Guild  - demonstrations of weaving, spinning, felting and past projects.
