Finally!
The Bridge is Open!
| The Village of Owego celebrated the opening of the new Court Street
Bridge with an all-day party on July 4. The event started with a parade
across the bridge at Noon. The first unit to cross the bridge was the Owego
VFW (pictured below). The celebration included a Golf Ball Roll, a Rubber
Ducky Derby, and live music throughout the evening. More

Below: Jim Arnold (left) and Bill Marshall (right), "sidewalk superintendents"
of the Court Street Bridge construction project, cut the ribbon at the
north end of the bridge at 9:30 am on Friday, June 27, to signify that
the new bridge is now open. Traffic has not been able to cross the Susquehanna
at Court Street since December 2001 when the old bridge was closed and
demolished. State officials are planning to hold an official ribbon cutting
ceremony this month. More photos |
