Woodburn Running for Tioga County Clerk

On May 22, 2003 Tioga County Clerk, Carole LaPlante, announced her decision to not seek re-election as Tioga County Clerk. Carole has served as County Clerk from 1999 to the present, and has decided to retire and spend more time with family and friends.

Upon Carole's announcement The Committee to Elect Woodburn Tioga County Clerk would like to take this opportunity to announce Robert L Woodburn's Republican candidacy for the position of Tioga County Clerk.  Carole has graciously decided to support his efforts in the upcoming election.   We sincerely appreciate her confidence in his abilities and her endorsement.

"The Clerk's office records and houses Real Property Transactions, Mortgages, Civil and Criminal Judgments, Notary Public renewals, Military Discharges as well as other court related filings. The NYS Department  of Motor Vehicles is under the supervision of the County Clerk. Fees are charged for filings at the Clerk's office as well as for DMV transactions. A large portion of the fees collected at both offices are transferred to New York State while a small portion is retained by Tioga County.  My goal as County Clerk will be to maximize office efficiency with out hindering service to the public, maintain accurate recording practices, and research user friendly alternatives such as computer aided Judgment searches. We must also encourage the public to renew their driver's licensees, new registrations and registration renewals at our local DMV so that we can receive the revenue."
