by Mary Ann Cascarino, AFD Chief
Firemen's Field Days
June 4 - 7
Please support the Apalachin Firemen's Field Days on June 4,
5, 6, and 7.
This four-day event is being brought to you by volunteer firefighters/EMS
personnel. Profit from "AFD Booths" at the field days goes right to the
Apalachin Fire Department, so this is a good way to support those who protect
your life and property.
One of our sayings is "You depend on us - we depend on you."
This is one of those times we are depending on you. Your attendance and
participation, whether it be in the food areas or games, would be greatly
appreciated. Look for "AFD Booth" to determine whether you're
supporting one of our booths.
Little Miss Apalachin Contest
June 7, Saturday, 11 am
The Little Miss Apalachin Contest will also be held on
Saturday, June 7 at 11:00 am.
Annual Parade
June 7, Saturday, 6 pm
Yes! There will be a parade this year from Pennsylvania Avenue
to the Field Day Grounds beginning at 6:00 pm on Saturday, June 7.
Become a Volunteer
Call 625-2216 if you would like more
information on becoming one of Apalachin Fire Department's volunteer firefighters.
If accepted, you'll receive a free medical evaluation, firematic education,
use of fitness equipment and many other benefits. Your commitment would
be to attend at least 24 hours of training a year and respond to emergencies
anytime of the day or night. We're looking for a few dedicated volunteers
who are willing to get up in the middle of the night if necessary to respond
to emergencies, These same volunteers help with public education
programs, tours of the station, work details and all those other unexpected
activities that volunteer firefighters/EMS personnel provide to the
community.
Once again, it is my privilege
to express, on behalf of this community and chief officers, our sincere
thanks to all our volunteer firefighters/EMS personnel who have given up
so much of their personal time to benefit this community. Their contributions
are very much appreciated.. (AFD contracts with the Village of Owego for
an EMT and Paramedic for day-time EMS coverage).
