By One Vote, Tioga County Legislators Approve Construction of New Office Building

 The Tioga County Legislators in another 5 to 4 vote approved spending (up to) $21 million to build (up to) an 89,000 sq. ft. building in a downtown residential neighborhood of the Village of Owego. $700,000.00 for the architectural study along with the cost to acquire additional property, (homes in the village) should be part of the 21 million. 

 The resolution reads: "estimated project costs for all related phases of the design and construction of not to exceed 89,000 square foot facility and not to exceed $21,000,000 including a 10 percent contingency ...  That the current tenants of the 231 Main Street building may be relocated to alternate space no later than September 2003 in the following manner: Probation Department to 89 Fox Street, Employment Center and Support  Collection Unit to Washington-Gladden Building, Health Department to Hidden Valley Electronics Building in Apalachin, and Tioga Opportunities Early Childhood Program administration to 56 Main Street"  The vote on the above resolution as amendment, was: five members voted "Aye." Legislators Ward, Huttleston, King and Leavenworth voted "No," and the resolution and amendment were adopted.
