Bike Tioga 2003 - A Fun-Filled Event

On Saturday, May 31, Tioga County Tourism will host "Bike Tioga 2003." This is a new and exciting event in Tioga County and is offered to all families, couples, and individuals interested in getting some exercise, enjoying the countryside, and having some great outdoor fun.

For a $10 pre-registration fee ($15 on day of tour), all those who sign up will receive a Bike Tioga 2003 T-shirt, a Bike Tioga water bottle, refreshments on the road, a 2003 Tioga County visitor's guide, and a map of Tioga County. A map of the tour route will be sent after registrations are received.

Three tour routes have been designed to meet the needs of the leisure bicyclist to the most avid rider.  At the conclusion of the rides, all will congregate at Hickories Park Pavilion #5 between 2:00 and 5:00 pm in Owego for the "Big Bike Bash" which will feature a chicken barbecue hosted by the Owego Fire Department at $6 per half chicken dinner.

Refreshment stops for the riders will be provided by fire departments and community groups along these routes. The most creative, most innovative, most fun, or wildest refreshment stop will be voted on by the bicyclists at the conclusion of the day during the "Big Bike Bash."  Each of the bicyclists will be able to vote for their most favorite stop. All are invited to come to the party! The Fire Department or community group with the most votes will win the proceeds, if any, from the Bike Tour. In any case, the experience will be fun for all.

Bike Tour 2003 overnight packages are also available that will include the bike tour, chicken barbecue dinner, accommodations at the Holiday Inn Express or the Owego Treadway Inn, and breakfast for two. Call or email today for a brochure at 1-800-671-7772 or email at info@visittioga.com.
