Apalachin Fire Department

EMS Day at AFD
You are invited to join us for EMS demonstrations, displays, rides on our ambulances, blood pressure screenings, refreshments, and more on Saturday, May  17

Fit For Life Free Fitness Screenings
Fit for Life Free Fitness Screenings will also be provided during EMS Day on May 17.  The screening consists of a 15-minute session with John Koniuto, MSPT, CSTS, Physical Therapist/Certified Trainer, who will equip you with a baseline exercise/wellness program that meets your individual needs. To qualify for this screening, you must live in Apalachin. Call 625-2216 by Thursday, May 15, to set up an appointment. The fifteen minute sessions begin at 8:00 am and continue until 5:00 pm. The cost of the fitness screening is being covered by a FEMA grant which AFD recently received.

 Anywhere in Apalachin
That's where you may see our ambulance weekdays.  Our day crew is in response mode from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm whether they are in the station, at the local eatery doing lunch, or maybe even close by your very own house.  No matter where they are in Apalachin, you can rest assured they respond as soon as the tones sound. Since our contracted day time coverage began in November, our response time weekdays has gone from approximately 10/20 minutes to less than one minute in most instances. It is working well.

New Firefighters
We welcome our newest firefighters Don Ames, Shawn Foland, Erin Knaul, Jesse Garrett, and Ryan Telfer.

On Leaves of Absence
Members of the AFD on Military Leaves of Absence are Matt Cascarino and Bill Cooney.  Those on educational leaves of absence are Stephanie Morrison, Craig Reese, Dan Sweeney, and Matt White.

Field Days

Central New York's Ice Storm
Tioga County Emergency Services provided mutual aid to Clay and Newark on April 6. Departments sending units and personnel were Apalachin, Campville, Candor, and Halsey Valley. Thanks to all those who gave up their Sunday to help our neighbors in New York!
