"Support Our Troops" Rally Planned for April 26
| The Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #480 is planning
a "Support Our Troops" rally on Saturday, April 26, from 2:30 to 5:00 pm,
at courthouse square in Owego. There will be a brief ceremony including
the dedication of a special flag to be flown at the monuments in recognition
and honor of our troops
There are also plans to decorate courthouse square with yellow ribbons, place the American Flag on lighted downtown street poles, and distribute American Flags and "Support Our Troops" lapel ribbons to all those in attendance. There will be a "Support our Troops" flag, like the one being dedicated, at the rally for all those in attendance to sign. The flag will then be sent to our troops overseas. After the rally, VFW Post #1371 on Main Street will be initiating a Family Support Group at the post to help families of servicemen and women deployed overseas.  |
