Nominations Sought for "Senior Citizen of the Year"

Each year, a senior citizen from our community is honored as Tioga County Senior Citizen of the Year by the Department of Aging Advisory Council. The award is given to a resident of Tioga County, age 60 or older, who stands out in the community for ongoing devotion of time and talent in a variety of areas, and who receives no remuneration for such deeds.

If you know of such a person, you can nominate them for the Senior Citizen of the Year Award. The number of nominations submitted on behalf of each senior is not a basis for receiving the award. This is not a voting process. The senior citizen chosen for the award will be selected based on their significant contribution to the community.

The advisory council will select a winner who will be honored at a special luncheon on May 13.

Submit your nomination by Monday, April 14, to Tioga Opportunities, Inc., Department of Aging, 9 Sheldon Guile Boulevard, Owego, NY 13827. Include the nominee's name, address, and telephone number, along with their community achievements. A biography is appreciated. Include your name and phone number as sponsor.
