Multi-Cultural Festival in Owego
A Gathering of People

  
On April 26 and 27, artist Kathye Edwina Arrington will  present a multi-cultural festival featuring local artist of color.  The event is called A Gathering of People (Meet Your Neighbors of Color) incorporating visual artists, performing artists music and ethnic food tasting. 

 Come see artwork by Myung K. Allen, Kathye Edwina Arrington, Kahlil Bey, Jean Chang, Isabele Kazan, Akua Lezli Hope, Pete Quiles and artist from the Caribbean Art Gallery.  Enjoy performances from Phanittha Cheewajaroenkul and her Thai Classical Dance, Nate Brown's African Drumming, Chandrica family with there Indian Dancing, Juan Pena, Jr.'s Band and storytelling from Newark Valley Highschool Spanish IV, V classes. Take part in creation stations. Write in Chinese, try mud cloth painting, or create banana leaf art. Join Juan Carlos de la Penta, Sr. and his wife Clavdia Aguileca de Pena as they show the community how to Salsa from Colombia, Pasadoble and Feria de Manizales.  

 This event will take place  Saturday April 26, from 10 am to 4 pm, and on Sunday April 27, from 1 to  4 pm, at the Tioga County Boys & Girls Club at 201 Erie Street in Owego. The event will be held in various areas throughout the building.  There will be arts and crafts displayed in the large gym and  performances in the small gym with open workshops for children and adults to try their hand at ethnic arts and crafts.
