 Apalachin History Committee News
by Jean Turner, President

The Apalachin History Committee met for the last regular meeting on January 31, 2003. For about 10 years, our goal was to collect and share history of Apalachin and the surrounding area. We collected family histories, pictures, old maps, and articles from books and scrapbooks. We are especially proud that we were able to share local history with another generation. We now have a historical marker at our extension of the Chenango Canal and we discovered a salt well from long ago.

We were fortunate to have personal talks with older residents.
In the near future, we expect our History Committee file to be available at the office of Emma Sedore, the town historian and county historian. Any one of our group would be glad to talk to any person seeking information about our area.
