Snow Day Child Care
8 am - 4 pm
Bring your school-age child (5 - 12 years old) to Waterman Center
for a fun-filled day of games, movies, and crafts. Drop off starts at 8:00
am on snow days for Owego-Apalachin and Vestal School Districts. A McDonald's
Happy Meal will be provided for lunch. $15 per child for members, $18 per
child for non-members.
Little People, Big People
Tuesdays, 1-2:30 & 4-5:30 pm
A program for three- and four-year-olds and an accompanying adult.
$2 members, $3 non-members.
Members Annual Meeting
January 18, Saturday, 7 pm
Review the accomplishments of the past year and find out what
is planned for 2003. Meet the new staff. Board elections and approval will
also take place. Doug Jenks speaks about the Native American sense of family,
community, and sharing.
Snow Shoe Making Class
January 28, Feb 4, 11, 18, 6-9 pm
Waterman staff will teach and assist people on making their own
show hoes Tuesday nights from January into February. Kits and instructions
are supplied. The fee includes everything you will need. Completed kits
will be available for purchase, also. Register by January 14. $125 members,
$150 non-members.
Natural Tanning
January 31, Feb 8, 14, 15
Friday 6 - 9, Saturday 10 - 5
Primitive technologist, Doug Jenks, will guide you through the
steps involved to naturally tan a deer hide using organic materials. Mr.
Jenks will also be discussing the Native American philosophy of the hunting
and use of animals. This is a labor-intensive program that will require
some physical effort as you clean, flesh, and soften the hides. Each student
will receive a quarter of the deer hide. $40 members, $60 non-members.
Cross Country Skiing Class
February 1, Sunday, 1-3 pm
Bring your own skis or rent. Learn the basics and then take a
short trip on the trails. Weather permitting. $3 members, $4 non-members.
Ski rental $3 members, $5 non-members.
Travelogue
February 1, Sunday, 2 pm
Gerry Hess of Apalachin will present a program on Waterton-Glacier
International Peace Park (in Montana and Alberta) and the Canadian Rockies.
See the magnificent mountains, lakes, and glaciers of the Rocky Mountains.
Included will be the old lodges erected by the United States and the grand
hotels built during the golden age of the Trans Canada Railroad.
