Penny Eddy Chosen ‘Employee of the Quarter'

Penny Eddy was selected as Tioga County's Employee of the Fourth Quarter for 2002 by the Tioga County Employee Recognition Committee.  Penny began her career when she was hired in December of 1977 by the Department of Social Services as a clerk typist. During the next 22 years, she earned the admiration and respect of her colleagues and supervisors. Penny's hard work was recognized, and she earned a promotion to Social Welfare Examiner in 1979, Audit and Quality Control Inspector in 1990, and Supervisor of  Quality Control in 1997. Her exceptional job performance and commitment were further acknowledged when she was selected as  Supervisor of the Year.

In December of 2000, Penny transferred to the Tioga County Sheriff's Office, where she currently serves as the secretary to the Undersheriff and as payroll clerk. In the short time that Penny has been with the Sheriff's Office, she has come to be known as a hard-working dedicated employee, with impeccable administrative and interpersonal skills. She continually strives to improve herself and the manner by which she performs her job.

Penny's outstanding commitment to her job is only surpassed by her genuine concern for her friends and co-workers. Even with her hectic workload, she remains mindful of the well being of others. When Penny learns of someone in need,  she is the first to give encouragement or organize relief.  True to form, Penny made weekly visits to the home of an elderly man whom she befriended. She brought groceries, cooked meals, and shared stories with him. Sadly, this friend recently passed away.

Away from the office, Penny lives in Newark Valley with her husband, Chuck, and their two special pets, Kady the dog and Pumpkin the cat. Penny has a variety of interests. She is a voracious reader and is learning to quilt. When she is not enjoying a long walk in the woods with Kady, you may find her attending a union meeting or a local fund raising event.

Congratulations, Penny, on this well deserved award.
