The Tioga County Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) would like you to know that you can come into their office to do all transaction. You do not need to mail anything to Utica. When they give eye test for driver's license renewals, you will leave the office with your interim driver's license in your hands. If it's a registration, you will have that when you leave. When mailed, it could take possibly three weeks or more to receive the registration or license.
 
The county retains a percentage of the dollar amount for all transactions. This is used to maintain services within the county. When renewals are mailed, as the state would like people to do, the county does not get any money from the state for that transaction.
 
You can continue to mail in your renewals, however the Tioga County DMV would appreciate if you would change the address to POB 307, Owego, NY 13827 (if using the envelope supplied by the state, cross out the bar code on the bottom of the envelope).
