‘Light Your Way to Christmas' 
includes Bridge Lighting, Farewell

Court Street Bridge, 1933-2001 Light Your Way to Christmas - an evening of holiday fun, music, and frolic in Owego's Historic Marketplace - will take place on Friday, December 7, beginning at 5:00 pm.

 One of the highlights of this year's Light Your Way to Christmas will be the lighting, ceremonial closing, and farewell crossing of the Court Street Bridge in Owego. The bridge, which was built in 1933, is scheduled to close forever on December 17. It will be demolished and  construction of a  new bridge will begin.

 Illumination of the Court Street Bridge will take place at 5:00 pm. The ceremonial closing and farewell crossing will occur at 8:00 pm. 
 Immediately following the ceremonial closing of the Court Street Bridge, there will be a reception at the Tioga County Historical Society at 110 Front Street in Owego. Local dignitaries and persons important in the bridge's history will be present. There will also be music, speakers, and refreshments, as well as an exhibition of images of the Court Street Bridge from 1933 to the present. 

 During Light Your Way to Christmas,  the street will be lined with luminaries. There will be carolers, a barbershop quartet,   musicians, the lighting of the M&T Christmas Tree, and Santa Claus himself.

  Businesses in the Village of Owego will be open for your convenience, hospitality, and shopping. Light Your Way to Christmas is an annual event which is sponsored by the Historic Owego Marketplace and Tioga Senior Citizens Foundation. The event benefits the Special Olympics.
