Photo Contest Winners Announced

 Winners of the "It's a Snap" Photo Contest have been announced. The contest, which was sponsored by the Tioga County Tourism Office, was held during the month of September in order to capture the best photos of things to see and do on our county. The winners are: 

 • 1st Place and $150 prize to Donald Miller of Vestal for "Cruising on the Susquehanna"

 • 2nd Place and $75 prize to  Bob Zelle of Owego for "Peek-a-boo Llama"

 • 3rd Place and $50 prize to Lois Barden of Candor for "Motorbikes in Flight" 

 The winning photos will be included in a new travel guide for 2002 which the Tioga County Tourism Office has begun developing.

 Eighty-five photos were entered into the contest. All photos had to be original photographs taken by the entrant. Eight judges reviewed the images based upon the following criteria: activity, color, clarity, and tourism relevance and composition. Each picture was graded and given a numeric value by each judge. The judges' scores were then averaged to compile a total score. The judges' panel then reviewed the top 15 photos  and the three winning photos were selected.
