400 Jobs for Tioga County

On October 4, Governor George Pataki visited Owego to announce that the Best Buy Distribution Center will be built in Lounsberry. Best Buy Co., Inc., the nation's largest electronics retailer, will create 400 new jobs and invest $40 million to construct a 650,000 square-foot, state of the art distribution facility.

Construction of the facility is scheduled to begin in Spring 2002 and be completed in early 2003. The facility will be Best Buy's first Northeast distribution center and will supply technology and entertainment products to Best Buy stores throughout the region's 10 states.
