Many activities are planned. Freddie Fire truck will be on hand to talk to kids about fire safety. The Broome County Safety Trailer will be available for kids to learn when and how to dial 911 and what to do in a smoke-filled room (simulated smoke will be introduced into the room). A Junior Firefighter obstacle course will be set up and prizes awarded for the winners (open to ages 3-12).  Finger printing kits will be available.

A contest will be held for Exit Drills In The Home (E.D.I.T.H). The winners will get to ride a fire truck to school and a grand prizewinner will receive a birthday party hosted by the Apalachin Fire Department (open to students, pre-school through 5th Grade, who live within the Apalachin Fire District).

An Infrared Vision System will demonstrate how to find victims in dark smoke filled rooms. There will be fire extinguisher, extrication, and various emergency medical demonstrations throughout the day.   Free drawings will also be held. The Apalachin Library will present story times throughout the day.
