Snoopy Stamp to be Issued this Month
The United States Postal Service will honor Charles Schulz's comic strip, Peanuts, with a postage stamp featuring Snoopy on top of his dog house as the World War I Flying Ace.

The first day of issue ceremony will be held on May 17 at Snoopy's Home Ice Arena in Santa Rosa, California. The stamp will be available nationwide starting May 18.

Known as Joe Cool, World War I Flying Ace, Literary Ace, Flashbeagle, Vulture, Foreign Legionnaire and "that round-headed kid's dog," Snoopy symbolizes the simple yet effective way Charles Schulz expressed the anxieties and joys of childhood in the Peanuts comic strip.

Peanuts debuted in syndication on October 2, 1950. Schulz died on February 12, 2000, only hours before his last original Peanuts strip appeared in Sunday papers.
