Children's Interactive Narrative for All Ages:
"How Did We Get Here?"

Tioga County artists are excited to present "How Did We Get Here?" a unique drama which integrates narration, movement, music, and the visual arts. Through stimulation of the senses and spirit the audience is visually involved with the creation of art as the narration of the creation of the earth unfolds. A drumming performance and demonstration will introduce the narrative. The event takes place on Sunday, May 20, at 3:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Union Church, 90 North Avenue in Owego.

Kimberly Arrington, inspired by The Creation by James Weldon-Johnson, wrote How Did We Get Here? specifically for this event. Dorothy Arrington will interpret the text through movement, while Kathye Arrington, the director, will lead a troupe of young artists in the depiction of the earth's creation. Narration of the text will be by Donna Allen. Meredith Kohn Bocek, harpist, along with a young flautist Rachel Barnhart, will accompany the performance.

Nate Brown and Robert Weinberger, from the world music band Unity Group, will speak about the drum's historic relationship to the earth and will lead the drumming session, encouraging audience participation.

The performance is made possible with funding from the New York State Council on the Arts Decentralization Grants.
