Marvin Park Pool Restoration Committee Receives Grant

The Marvin Park Pool Restoration Committee recently received a $60,000 grant from the Mildred Faulkner Truman Foundation. The grant will be used to help fund the restoration of the swimming pool at Marvin Park in Owego. The Marvin Park pool, built in 1957, has been closed since 1996 due to structural deterioration.

Area residents formed the Marvin Park Pool Restoration Committee in the spring of 1999 to raise the needed funds to restore and reopen the swimming pool at Marvin Park. The committee's activities have involved coordinating fund raisers and soliciting donations and grants to fund the restoration of the pool.

The Mildred Faulkner Truman Foundation operates the charitable trust of the estate of the late Mildred Faulkner Truman. The foundation provides grants to qualified tax-exempt organizations to fund worthwhile projects that will benefit the residents of Owego and the surrounding area.
