Jack Legg Announces Candidacy for Owego Town Council

Jack Legg of Marshland Road in Apalachin has announced that he is running for Town of Owego Councilman.

"I am running for Town of Owego Councilman because of my passion for helping people," said Legg. "I am familiar with financial and budgetary procedures due to my accounting background, but I am just as interested, if not more, in helping the residents of Owego. I would be available to everyone if they need an answer to any concern, and I would respond within a timely manner and give them a truthful answer."

Legg says he is a person that will listen to the people he represents and will research both sides of the situation before making any decision. "I feel that this is an issue in which the people have a great frustration with current elected officials," said Legg.

He sees a need to become more aggressive in expanding Owego's tax base. "We cannot just be content with what there is now," said Legg.

Legg also believes that Owego needs to expand the recreational needs for the children. "Currently there are limited options and as a volunteer at the Boys and Girls Club, I see that more is needed," Legg stated. "We need better utilize the current parks we have now and make it more convenient for the residents of those areas."

These are just a few of the reasons that Legg wants to be a councilman. "But, my primary reason is to serve everyone in Owego. From Hullsville to Campville to Southside to Apalachin, and every place in between, I will work hard to make sure Owego can go forward while still maintaining fiscal responsibility," said Legg.

Jack Legg and his wife, Susan, have one son, Brian, who is in Second Grade at Apalachin Elementary School. Susan is a Credit Analyst at Tioga State Bank. Jack, who has an A.A.S. Degree in Accounting, is a stay-at-home Dad, but he also works part time jobs at the Links at Hiawatha Landing, H&R Block, and Guagliardo Plumping & Heating. He is serving on the Owego-Apalachin Citizens Facility Advisory Board as Finance Chairman for the new school project. Legg also volunteers at the Tioga County Boys & Girls Club and helps run the Owego Men's Softball League.
