  Boland to Run for Village of Owego Justice

Justice David G. Boland of the Village of Owego has officially made it known that he will be seeking re-election to the Village of Owego Justice Position in March of 2002.

Judge Boland is currently the Acting Village Justice in the Village of Waverly, a position he has held for four years. Prior to that, Judge Boland was the Village of Owego Justice for three years. He also held the position of Acting Village Justice in the Village of Owego for two years.

Judge Boland has heard more than 10,000 cases in his nine years on the bench. He has successfully completed 20 advanced judicial law courses. He is currently certified by the State of New York to hold the position.

Judge Boland set up the current computer system for the Village of Owego Court. He also wrote a grant to receive a larger computer as the village court grew. He also played a major role in the computerizing of the Village of Waverly Court.

A member of the New York State Magistrates Association, and a past president of the Tioga County Magistrates Association, Judge Boland also served for four years as the Planning Board Chairman in the Village of Owego.

Judge Boland worked for IBM-Owego as a Staff System Analyst before retiring after 30 years. He owns Boland Automart in Owego, is a professional freelance photographer, and is a member of the Eastern Motor Sports Press Association. He is a member of the Owego Fire Department and the Owego Elks.

A life-time resident of the Village of Owego, Judge Boland and his wife, Kate, have three sons and daughters-in-law and six grandsons.

Judge Boland has in depth experience with current issues of the times such as domestic violence and drug and alcohol related crimes. He has handled many felony arraignments and thousands of traffic violations. His court experience as well as being chairman of the Planning Board, give him a great knowledge of the local laws concerning zone and code.
