Can & Bottle Drive

The 8th Grade Class of Our Lady of Sorrows and Seton Middle School will hold a Can & Bottle Drive on Saturday, January 6, from Noon to 3:00 pm. Drop off sites are OLS-Seton Campus parking lot at 1112 Broad Street in Endicott, and BSB at 540 Hooper Road in Endwell. Your donations are greatly appreciated.
 

Music at Awakenings

Mule in the Corn will perform at Awakenings Coffeehouse in Owego on Saturday, January 13. Doors open at 6:30 pm, The first set starts at 7:30, the second set at 8:30 pm.

Soup & Salad Supper

The First United Methodist Church in Newark Valley will be having a Soup & Salad supper on Saturday, January 20, from 4:30 to 6:30 pm. Choose from a delicious assortment of homemade soups, visit the salad bar for a large variety of salad fixin's, and then take a trip to the dessert table where you'll find a delightful array of homemade desserts. A free will offering is requested.

The First United Methodist Church is at 71 Main Street in Newark Valley.
 
 
 

Swim Lessons Offered

American Red Cross swim classes, Levels I-VII will be offered at the Great Owego Community Pool starting January 25. These classes are for all abilities, ages 3 and up, and are scheduled for early evening.

Registration is now through January 18. The half-hour classes are for six weeks and cost is $35 for members, $45 for non-members. The classes are being offered by Tioga Opportunities, Inc. Call Gary Crossman, 689-0114, for more information and a schedule.

All Day Bingo

An All Day Bingo will be held on Saturday, January 13, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, at St. Thomas Hall in Little Meadows. Doors open at 9:00 am. The entrance fee is $25. Lunch will be served, and there will be door prizes and raffles.

The All Day Bingo is sponsored by Southern Tier Ponies, girls 14 and under Traveling Fast Pitch Softball Team. For more information, call Ralph Warner, 625-3904.
 

CCE Dinner Meeting

You are invited to the Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) Annual Dinner Meeting on Tuesday, January 23, at 6:00 pm, at the United Methodist Church, Main Street in Owego.

The dinner will feature an introduction of new staff, a review of CCE accomplishments in 2000, and recognition of key volunteers. Following the dinner, CCE will introduce and vote on the candidates for the open positions on our Board of Directors.
