In September, the Tioga County Rural Ministry accepted a $9,000 donation from the Tioga County Senior Citizens Foundation. Tom Emnett, foundation board member, presented the check to sister Lisette O'Brien and members of the Rural Ministry's Board of Directors. The purpose of the Tioga County Senior citizens Foundation is to support organizations and activities which promote the needs, interests, and well being of seniors in Tioga County. The Tioga County Rural Ministry will use these funds to serve seniors in the county in such ways as: provide emergency food, distribute fruit baskets and plants to shut-ins, make minor household repairs, assist with rent/utility/fuel bills, provide transportation to doctor appointments, assist with prescription medication payments, and visit the sick or shut-in.
