Applications Being Accepted for Prudential Youth Leadership Institutes

For a fourth year, Tioga County youth will have the opportunity to take part in a highly acclaimed national youth leadership training program. The Tioga County Prudential Youth Leadership Advisory Group is sponsoring a 30 hour youth leadership and community service training entitled, The Prudential Youth Leadership Institute (PYLI) on November 10 - 12 at El Rancho de Paz, Owego, for any Tioga County youth in grades 8 - 11.

This training includes skill development and instruction in goal setting, team building, project planning, and decision making, plus hands-on field experiences, a community service project, and a graduation ceremony. In addition, Tioga County youth are also welcome to attend the Bradford County PYLI on November 17 - 19 at the Watson Homestead, Painted Post. Youth can acquire an application at their local school, or at Cornell Cooperative Extension, Tioga County at 56 Main Street, Owego. Applications and a registration fee of $25 per youth can be sent to Elaine Maxam at Cornell cooperative Extension, Tioga County and must be received by 5:00 pm on October 16, 2000. Applications will be reviewed by the Tioga County Prudential Youth Leadership Institute Advisory Group and youth will be notified of selection by October 20, 2000. Nationally, this youth leadership training program is a joint effort by the Prudential Insurance Company of America, the Center for Creative Leadership, Youth Service America, and the Points of Light Foundation.
