Make a Difference Day - October 28

Tioga County's Third Annual "Make A Difference Day" is on Saturday, October 28 and will carry on the tradition of neighbors helping neighbors to make a difference in the community.

In conjunction with the Points of Light Foundation and USA Weekend, the Tioga County Legislature and other planners are asking the community to join in a day of projects and activities that will improve the quality of life for others. Thanks to a grant received from the Mildred Truman Faulkner Foundation, dollars are available to assist with materials needed for group projects. Because of efforts in the past, the community has seen much work done to improve the quality of life in the community as well as individual lives.

"Make A Difference Day" is a volunteer effort being coordinated through Cornell Cooperative Extension, Tioga County. The planning committee is looking for group or individual projects that can be submitted for the volunteer effort. Project ideas might include neighborhood cleanup effort, volunteering to help at the library, restoration of old or historic landmarks, raising dollars through can drives and car washes to help your local animal shelter, spending the day at a senior citizen center, collecting food for the needy, and many more. Volunteers can receive more information and project registration forms from Cornell Cooperative Extension, Tioga County, by calling (607) 687-4020.
