Dairy Pasture & Wildlife Walkabout

Cornell Cooperative Extension is offering a Dairy Pasture and Wildlife Walkabout at the Marc Perozio farm, 198 Devlin Road in Groton, New York, on Friday, October 13, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Mr. Perozio has grazed his milking herd successfully for 15 years at this location, and he will share his insights in a discussion led by the CCTTS Dairy and Field Crops Team. There will also be a retrospective consideration of this season's pasture and forage crop outcome. At about 1:00 pm, Dr. Ron Rohrbaugh from the Cornell Ornithology Lab, will describe how modern farming and grazing operations dovetail with healthy wildlife habitat. He will lead a farmland habitats walk to discuss the value of various habitat types to migratory and non-migratory birds. He will discuss the establishment and management of these habitats, as well as their benefits to specific communities of birds, such as grassland birds and raptors. This promises to be a most interesting discussion.

Light lunch will be served. This program is sponsored by the Cornell Cooperative Extension CCTTS Dairy and Field Crops Team, Graze-NY, and the Marc Perozio family.
