The Apalachin History Committee has donated another book to the Apalachin Library. The book, A Hiawatha Island Childhood 1911 - 1919, is a charming book by Eupha Snedaker Shanly about growing up on the island. She tells of playing and exploring in the remains of the hotel that once stood on the island. She attended school on the mainland, getting there in an especially made small row boat. The Apalachin History Committee and the Apalachin Library think everyone will enjoy reading this book about growing up in a special place during that time period.

The Apalachin Library also has EarlyOwego by Leroy Kingman and Seasons ofChange, an updated history of Tioga County. The Apalachin History Committee donated a HistoricalGazetteerand Directory of Tioga County, NewYork 1887 by W. B. Gay. In August 1999, they donated the book Alden Loring, A Naturalist Afield by William A. Lay.

In keeping with the History Committee's goal of informing Apalachin about its history, they try to gather information about Apalachin. They meet on the last Friday of every month at 1:30 pm at the Apalachin Library.
