Town & County Government Watch

Town of Owego

• A special town board meeting will follow this month's planning meeting at 7:30 pm. A vote on Rudin Farm Days and The Harvest Moon Festival will take place.

• Sewer line construction has begun at the Trailer Park and Toby Road area in Apalachin.

• The Shady Hill water district has met the required number of signatures. Construction should be completed by spring 2001 at the latest.

• The Cafferty Hill water district did not produce the required number of signatures needed to create the district.

• The new comfort station at Hickories Park should be ready for use in early spring.

Village of Owego

• Trustee Gene Tiberi will be resigning from the board due to his relocation.

• The Baker Fireman statue was rededicated. Hose race competitions were held in memory of John Pocari. Chief Delahanty, Pat Gavin, and the whole department need to be commended for job well done.

• A public meeting will be held on August 23, at 7:00 pm at the County Office Building to discuss policing options for the village.
