'X' Marks the Spot for Route 434

More white X's have appeared on Routes 17 and 434 in Apalachin and Owego. As mentioned in last month's article, these X's are control points for aerial photography.

According to Mike Griffin, Assistant to the Regional Director, of the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT), Hornell office, the DOT will fly over the area and take photos for a 3D survey file for a project in three years on a section of Route 434 from Marshland Road in Apalachin to Court Street in Owego. The project is not yet defined by the DOT. It could be minor work or possibly a reconstruction of that stretch of Route 434. The X's have nothing to do with future Interstate 86 or the new river crossing at Apalachin.
