Let It Snow!

Since moving to New York, I have been told, warned, and razzed by new neighbors and acquaintances of the amount of precipitation, the inches and inches of snow I have to look forward to this winter. To these folks, I just smile.

As a child, I grew up in the mountains of Pennsylvania, not far from here, where we had snow on the ground from Halloween to Easter, bust as I grew I saw less and less snow. Once married, I found myself moving to new areas, areas with little or no snow. My white Christmases were only memories from my past.

Even holiday visits with my family in Pennsylvania did not guarantee a white, snow covered Christmas.

Ah snow. So sparkly and beautiful falling down, blanketing everything in glittery white. Ever notice how the whole world looks cleaner? (At least until the plows go through.)

Here's an image for you. You're snug and warm inside enjoying the glow of the fireplace fire and the lights of your Christmas tree, while slittery snow flutters silently to the ground outside. You are not worried cause you don't work tomorrow, so put up your feet and sip your cocoa. Mmm. Feels so cozy!

Well, guess our depleted ozone, the greenhouse effect, or whatever is keeping a lot of areas from getting the snow they once did. Only time will tell about the amount of snow this year.

Just in case, I have decided to invest in two more strong snow shovels. I have three strong healthy teenagers who will come in very handy should we get an abundance of snow this year.

OK, guys, here you go, the hot cocoa will be waiting with me by the fire.
