Meghan Mendiola Crowned
Little Miss Apalachin 1999

Meghan Mendiola was crowned Little Miss Apalachin 1999 on Thursday, June 4, 1999, at the Apalachin Firemen's Field Days. She is the daughter of Colleen McKilligan and Jesse Mendiola, granddaughter of Mary McKilligan of Maine, New York. Meghan attends St. Patrick's School in Owego.

Sara Wasileski was selected as the runner-up for Little Miss Apalachin. She is the daughter of John and Darcy Wasileski and the granddaughter of Henry and Delores of Endwell, New York. Sara attends Apalachin Elementary School.

The judges for the contest were Gail Morrison of the Apalachin Library, David Dzuba, owner of the Pat Mitchell's Ice Cream Station in Apalachin, and Cary Lynn Mess, Miss Broome County Fair 1998. The Master of Ceremonies was James Raftis. The contest, which is held every year at the Apalachin Firemen's Field Days, is open to any girl age 8 or 9 who resides in the Apalachin Fire District.
