Nominations Sought for

"Senior of the Year"

If you know of a Tioga County Senior Citizen who is worthy to be honored as the 1999 Senior Citizen of the Year, you can nominate that person for the award.

Tioga Opportunities, Inc., Department of Aging Services' Advisory Council in Tioga County annually honors a senior citizen by selecting one from applicants submitted by the community. They will accept nominations through Friday, April 23, 1999. The Tioga County senior citizen chosen for the honor will be selected based on their significant contribution to the community.

The senior nominated for this award should be one who stands out in the community for an ongoing devotion of time and talent in a variety of areas and who receives no remuneration for such deeds. The nominee does not have to be a member of a senior club or organization, but must a resident of Tioga County.

To nominate someone, mail the following information to Tioga Opportunities, Inc., Department of Aging Services, 9 Sheldon Guile Boulevard, Owego, NY 13827: the name, address, and phone number of the senior citizen, any contributions they have made to the community, and a short biography of the nominee. Also include your name and phone number when making your nomination.

The winner will be honored at a special luncheon on Friday, May 21, at the Countryside Community Center. Luncheon reservations must be made by Friday, May 14 by calling (607) 687-4120.
