Art Classes for Children

Popular art educator Kathye Edwina Arrington will use historic items from the museum to inspire artwork. Children may sign up for either class or both. Register by March 10. A minimum of 10 participants is required. Cost is $5 per child per class, $4 for members of TCHS.

Make "Fossilized Bones" - March 13, Saturday, 1-3pm - Explore the collection of pre-historic arrowheads, and imagine the animals which ancient residents of the Southern Tier would have hunted. There's even the tooth of a wooly mammoth. The children will then make sand castings of their own "fossilized bones."

Museum Still Lives - March 27, Saturday, 1-3pm - This class will teach children how to use charcoal and pastel, and draw still life objects from the collection of the museum. With the help of a curator, the class will be able to design their own still life, while learning about shading techniques in drawing.
