The largest motor sport expo in the Southern Tier will be held next month in Apalachin. Race World 99 will be held on March 5, 6, and 7 at the Hidden Valley Electronics Complex, Main Street, in Apalachin. The feature car will be Richard Petty's #43 STP Pontiac. Tracks represented at Race World 99 will be Afton, Five Mile Point, Tioga, Penn Can, Skyline, and Chemung. Types of motor vehicles on display include dirt cars, asphalt cars, drag cars, go karts, and microds.

Events scheduled for all three days include radio controlled racing/East Coast Nationals, simulator rides, and slot car racing. There will also be NASCAR vendors.

On Saturday, March 6, there will be a charity auction for the Spaulding Foundation for Injured Drivers and a Little Miss Race World Contest.

The major sponsor of Race World 99 is Don's Automotive Mall. Local businesses involved in the event are Jeff Kies Auto Sales, Terrace Tavern, Lindsey Lawn & Garden, and Nick's Garage.
